Radiating leg pain and nerve symptoms.

Pain, tingling or numbness can travel from the lower back or buttock into a leg. Learn what these symptoms can mean, how ChiroRelief assesses them, and where spinal decompression fits into general chiropractic care.

01

What radiating leg symptoms can feel like

Symptoms may extend from the lower back or buttock into the thigh, calf or foot. Some people notice pain; others describe burning, pins and needles, altered sensation or heaviness. The pattern can change with sitting, walking or certain movements.

Leg symptoms do not always mean the same condition. Our sciatica and radiating leg pain guide explains a common pattern, while the nerve and leg symptoms page covers related questions.

02

Could a disc be involved?

A disc-related finding is one possible explanation for radiating symptoms, but it is not the only one. A scan result also needs to be considered alongside the symptoms and examination rather than in isolation.

Read more about disc-related back pain and lumbar spinal stenosis, or bring existing reports to your appointment for discussion.

03

Your assessment at ChiroRelief Enmore

At 208 Enmore Road, your chiropractor asks where the symptoms travel, when they began, what changes them and how they affect daily activities. The assessment may include spinal and hip movement, strength, sensation and relevant clinical tests. Bring any scans or reports you already have; you do not need a new scan just to book.

Your chiropractor explains the findings and any next steps, including whether further investigation or another health professional should be involved.

04

What happens during a decompression session?

Treatment takes place on a specialised table, usually with you lying face down. Your arms may rest on supports or hold the handles while the table applies a controlled, repeating traction movement to the lower back.

You may notice a gentle or moderate stretching sensation. Let your chiropractor know how it feels so the position and settings can be adjusted. The first appointment generally starts with lighter settings, with progression over later visits when appropriate.

05

Spinal decompression and chiropractic care

Spinal decompression for the lower back is offered as part of general chiropractic care at ChiroRelief, unless the assessment identifies a reason not to use it. It is generally offered at the first appointment with lighter settings, with progression over later visits as appropriate.

Your care may also include hands-on techniques, movement advice and rehabilitation based on your presentation. See appointment fees and duration or book a chiropractic appointment online.

Talk with a ChiroRelief chiropractor about your options.

What patients often ask.

Is radiating leg pain always sciatica?+

No. Pain travelling into the leg can have more than one explanation. An assessment helps relate your symptoms to the clinical findings.

Do I need a scan before booking?+

You can book an assessment without arranging a new scan first. Bring any imaging or reports you already have.

Can spinal decompression be included in my chiropractic care?+

Yes. Spinal decompression is generally included in general chiropractic treatments at ChiroRelief, unless your assessment identifies a reason not to use it.
